Nuclear Disarmament
A Motion for Nuclear Disarmament Campaigning
This Union notes:
- Two nuclear weapons killed 237,000 people in Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
- There are over 10,500 known nuclear warheads held by the five recognized nuclear powers.
- On March 14, 2007 the UK parliament voted for the renewal of the Trident Missile System costing 25 billion pounds.
This Union believes:
- Nuclear weapons should never be used again.
- By disarming its dangerous and expensive nuclear arsenal, the UK has the opportunity to diplomatically encourage other countries to disarm.
This Union resolves:
- Members of the Union will be allowed use of the UBU logo in letter writing campaigns, posters and banners for nuclear disarmament.
- The Union will endorse through the press at least one legal, peaceful protest a year campaigning for nuclear disarmament.
